Vita

Prof. Dr. Enrico Schleiff, born on November 17, 1971 in Luckenwalde, studied physics at the Charles University in Prague, before moving to the Gutenberg University in Mainz, where he passed his oral examination in 1994. He completed his diploma thesis at the Department of Biophysical Chemistry at the University of Basel. After laboratory work at the Institute for Particle Physics at the University of Dresden and a position as a laboratory assistant at the Gutenberg University in Mainz, he joined the Department of Biochemistry at McGill University Montreal, Canada, as a PhD Fellow and received his PhD in 1999. From 1999 to 2002 he worked as a research associate at the Department of Biology at the Christian-Albrechts-University zu Kiel and then a year at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich. In 2003, he completed his habilitation in cell biology and botany and worked from 2003 to 2007 as the head of a junior research group set up by the Volkswagen Foundation itself. Since 2007, he has held a W3 professorship for Molecular Cell Biology of Plants at the Institute of Molecular Biology at JWG University Frankfurt, where he has been vice president since 2012. Since 2017 he is also  a member of the board of directors at FIAS. From January 2021, he will assume the office of President of the Goethe University Frankfurt.
