Theoretical Physics – Research Groups

Research Group of Armen Sedrakian

My research over the past few years was concentrated on the following topics:

  • Effective models of QCD at finite temperature and density, transport coefficients (conductivities, shear and bulk viscosities) of quark-gluon plasma in regime relevant to RHIC and LHC as well as in color superconducting cores of neutron stars. General formulations of second order hydrodynamics from a Kubo-Zubarev type (non-equilibrium statistical operator) formalism.
  • Pairing, condensation and clustering in nuclear systems, including effects of isospin asymmetry and strong magnetic fields. Phase diagram of imbalanced systems in general, critical points, collective modes, and thermodynamics.
  • Physics of compact stars. Leptonic transport in hot neutron stars crusts in strong magnetic fields, modelling of their cooling in the case of exotic (hyperonic or quark) cores, structure (mass, radius) in the presence of first-order phase transitions. Roles of axions and bounds on their parameters from the cooling of compact stars.
